2012 JYC Cruising

Summer Cruise 2012

The summer cruise will take place from July 28^th to August 5^th. This year the cruise will return to Shelter Island, New York.   Destinations will include Coecles Harbor, Westneck Harbor, Deering Harbor and returning to Jamestown via Fishers Island or Stonington.  As in previous years, this will be a combined cruise with the Jamestown Yacht Club. 

Summer Cruise Itinerary 2011

July 28th (Sat)            Jamestown to Block Island

Town moorings or anchor – cocktail hour @ 5pm onboard J40 Garuda. Please bring snacks or a dish to share.

July 29^th (Sun)            Block Island to Coecles Harbor on Shelter Island

                                    Quiet anchorage

July 30^th (Mon)            Coecles Harbor

                                    Relax, swim, kayak, walk nature reserve, etc. Cocktail hour location TBD

July 31^st (Tue)             Coecles Harbor to Westneck Harbor

                                    Anchor in visitors’ area.  For those with town withdrawal symptoms, Sag                                       Harbor is an alternative with moorings available through the                                                         harbormaster.

August 1^st (Wed)        Westneck Harbor

                                    Relax, swim, kayak, etc. Cocktail hour location TBD

August 2^nd (Thu)          Westneck Harbor to Deering Harbor and Shelter Island Yacht Club

                                    Yacht Club has moorings, launch service, dining room, etc.

August 3^rd (Fri)              Shelter Island Yacht Club

                                    Rent bikes; take ferry to Greenport, etc.  Group dinner at Yacht Club in                                         evening

August 4^th (Sat)            Shelter Island to Fishers Island (West Harbor) or Stonington

Anchor at Fishers Island, or in Stonington - moorings from Dobsons (need to be reserved) and Stonington Harbor Yacht Club offers reciprocal privileges. No reservations have been made for anyone at Dobsons.

August 5^th (Sun)            Return to Jamestown

Please contact Jim Heagney (jimheagney@cox.net) if you are planning to join the cruise.  We have given Shelter Island Yacht Club a preliminary list of boats of anyone who let me know that they intend to come along.

The list includes: Willie Mclean, Clifford Kurz, Steve Bryn, John & Joe Impagliazzo, Ted Burns, and Bruce Underhill.
