NOTES:
9/19 – Nice Fall Sunday with steady breeze and tide throughout the race. Hope you all enjoyed the courses.
See you next Sunday!
Regards,
Cheryl Rienzo
9/12 – What a race to follow our floater for the 1st Fall series race! Many thanks to the hearty souls out on the course today. We had a wonderful vantage to view the 12 meters out for their cruises. Wind was fairly steady at 16-17kts during the starts.
Hope to see you all out next Sunday.
Cheryl
8/31 – Start of Jamestown Yacht Club’s 2021 Fall Series was a quiet evening on the water. Despite winds hovering at 6 or less, we sent off 3 classes with 33 boats. We were able to shorten course for all classes so hopefully you all made it in before dark. Beautiful sunset for our last summer evening.
Many thanks to our RC crew for sticking it out tonight and all the work you’ve put in all season.
Next race will be on Sunday, Sept 12th. Enjoy your long holiday weekend and we’ll see you on the water the following weekend.
Regards,
Cheryl Rienzo

8/10 – Well, it started out a decent evening with breeze, despite it being pretty calm most of the day. Then RC caught the pin line in the prop. After I went in but was unable to pull it out, many thanks to Jack Rienzo for cutting it loose. And we managed to only have a 5 minute postponement. Sadly, we paid for that on the other end of the evening, with finishes in the dark. Thank you to all who called into RC to let us know who was finishing.
It always interesting out there. Hope you all enjoyed the evening. See you on the water next week.
Regards,
Cheryl Rienzo

7/13 – Interesting evening with all the shifts prior to the start making a decision on setting the start line as well as the course very difficult. Hopefully, you all enjoyed the very different course and am glad you could all find Special Race Mark 15.
It was great to see all of you out there, 48 strong on our line, after the past year. See you on the water next week!

6/29 -To all our JYC Racers,
Please be aware that per Paragraph 2.11.3 of the Race Circular, if a competitor recrosses the finish line they may be protested by the Race Committee. We had several instances this evening and one definitely blocked another finisher.

6/8 – Thank you, JYC Racers! We had a very successful Spring series with 35 boats registered for the season to date. And the weather and wind held so we managed to get everyone in tonight. Special thanks to those who joined us at the Jamestown Caddy Shack tonight after the last Spring race. We’re hoping to make this a regular after race venue. More on that later this week. Here’s the Spring results. Congrats to our series winners.

Cheryl Rienzo

5/18 – Good to see folks starting to come out. After an 8 boat fleet for the 1st race . We had 15 out tonight. Good start to the season.
So, more wind then we thought there would be tonight ahead of the rain. The rainbow made up for it, perhaps the largest anyone on RC had seen! Hopefully, everyone on the course was able to enjoy the natural wonder as well.
Please be prepared; while water temps are still low, RC will fly the Y flag.

Cheryl Rienzo

5/11 – Thank you, All, who attended our JYC Skippers’ Meeting for the 2021 sailing season! We had the largest group in quite a while to kick off our racing.
Just a few notes from the meeting:
- The JYC Race Circular has been reorganized to follow The Racing Rules of Sailing Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions update. Paragraph 1 is the NOR and Paragraph 2 is the Sailing Instructions.
- Regarding severe weather, if forecast throughout the race day, RC will be making a determination to race around 5:30pm and announcing on the JYC Racing VHF Channel 72. Per The Racing Rules of Sailing rule 3 it is up to each skipper to determine whether they should race or not.
- In the event of winds above 18kts or for other reasons, the RC may put up the Y flag.
- When the V flag is hoisted, please tune to JYC Racing VHF Channel 72 for further search and rescue instructions.
