One reminder, if you need to drop out of the race for whatever reason, please contact the race committee on VHF 72. This is a safety requirement per para 2.14.2 of the race instructions and if you don’t comply, you may be protested by the Race Committee.
Thanks for making a successful Spring series! Good wind tonight made for a quick race. We’re looking forward to seeing you for the Summer series starting next Tuesday. Additionally, we have the after race event at Conanicut Yacht Club. Please sign up if you haven’t yet done so as we need to give a count to the Club tomorrow night.
Regards,
Cheryl

JYC Racers,
Great to see so many of you out despite the chilly weather!
As a reminder, per Sailing Instruction para 2.8.2 Navigation Rules, “All government aids to navigation must be observed, except in the leg of a race where it is used as a turning mark and the following: Mark 13 (C”13″) North of the Newport Bridge, and Mark V (G”17”) Southeast of Gould Island.”
Also, please be aware of your radio placement so you are not holding the channel open.
Enjoy a very healthy and safe Memorial Day and we’ll see you on the water next Tuesday!
Regards,
Cheryl Rienzo

Dock start. Very fluky wind with lots of gusts. We had a 150 degree wind shift just before the start so glad we got everyone off.

Due to weather today racing was canceled. What a start to the 2022 season! Sorry folks.

To our JYC Racers:
This year we are working toward a complete online registration process, including uploading your PHRF form and payment. Please bear with us. We plan to unveil this after the Skippers Meeting on 4/26.
Thank you for your patience.
We’re looking forward to being on the water soon.

Waiting for “The Season”
It is that waiting time……..
Not the gray remains of winter
But not the lemony green of newly-spring spring.
The sun is now warm on my face
But the breeze still gusts coldly, what is left
of winter.
We wait restlessly, eager to begin
the scrubbing, sanding, painting preparations that lead to our freedom in the wind
on the waves.
Hope you all are enjoying a healthy and restful off season.
Check back to this site for the JYC Race Book with Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions available in early April. These will be posted on the Notice Board on this site.
2021 Racing Wrap Up
Congratulations to our season winners! Check out 2021 on the website for the results. Congratulations to our Club Award winners, including the 2021 Overall – Sidney L. Wright Memorial Award – given to the JYC Member Racer with the lowest overall score across the 3 series, Rob Lambert! A complete listing of the Club Award winners at Awards Page.
Many, many, many thanks to our dedicated volunteers who put our season together, from Race Committee on the water, on the shore, providing boats and updating our website with results! Without our regular volunteers, we wouldn’t have such great racing: Polly Alphonso, Richard Eberhard, Gary & Lesley Engelson, Roy Guay, Anne Lane, Jack Rienzo, John Sahagian, Mike & Colleen Schnack, and Kate Shuhy.

Here is a trial for the second racing blog post. This is for Feb. 17, 2022.
It is still cold in New England.
But in the Bahamas, it is nice and warm.
